Event overview

Narva Museum presents a new exhibition, "A Corner of the Park. Long-Awaited Meeting," offering a unique opportunity to discover rare and valuable items preserved in the Narva Museum and its predecessor institutions from the mid-19th century to World War II.

The exhibition features more than 160 exhibits brought from different parts of the world. Here, you can see works by masters from Italy, Britain, Ukraine, China, Japan, the Russian Empire, and the Estonian Republic. Each object has its own story, but all the paintings, sculptures, and household items on display survived World War II and have returned to their home in the Narva Museum.

Some of the exhibits are being displayed publicly for the first time in many decades. Highlights of the collection include works by famous Narva artists Alexander Normak and Ardo Sivadi, as well as paintings by renowned artists Ivan Aivazovsky and Ivan Shishkin.

A special place in the exhibition is held by the collection of Gardner porcelain figurines, the largest in Estonia. Interestingly, Gardner figurines in the collections of the Estonian Art Museum and Tallinn City Museum originate from the Narva collection.

The exhibition also features valuable items donated by local residents. One such donor was Alexey Osipov, whose curiosity helped Narva Museum acquire a unique Asian collection for Estonia.

Visitors to the exhibition will not only enjoy beautiful works of art but also learn fascinating stories about the exhibits and the lives of their creators and collectors.

The exhibition opens on May 30.
The project was realized with the support of the Eesti Kultuurkapital fund.
