Lecture "Unity and Betrayal: The Last Supper in the History of Art" by Yulia Khlystun (PhD) (RUS)
Event overview
Why does "The Last Supper" remain one of the most emotional and powerful subjects in the history of art? How did masters of different eras convey the drama of love, loyalty, and betrayal?
On May 25th at 13:00, we invite you to attend the lecture "Unity and Betrayal: The Last Supper in the History of Art," where you will learn how this subject was portrayed in icons, frescoes, and paintings, including the legendary fresco by Leonardo da Vinci. We will reveal how historical context influenced the choice of details, which gestures and expressions created tension, and how light helped convey the hidden drama. You will also discover what symbols and messages the masters encrypted in the images of Judas and Christ.
Do not miss the opportunity to touch the great history through the lens of art.
The lecture will be delivered by Yulia Khlystun (PhD), research officer at Narva Museum and scholar of sacred art, who will guide you through the mysteries and hidden messages left by the masters of the past.
