23.10 at 16:00 Curator Tour at the "Icon Room" Exhibition, Andrei and Orest Kormašov (EST)
The "Icon Room" exhibition features icons dating from the 17th century to the early 20th century, which have arrived at the museum in various ways. Some icons were confiscated at the Narva customs when attempts were made to illegally smuggle them across the border, while others were evacuated from Narva to Rakvere during World War II and saved from destruction during the Soviet period.
The exhibition curators will discuss the unique characteristics of the museum's collection, the selection of icons for the exhibition, and the history of the room itself.
Additionally, the Kormašovs will introduce the key principles of iconostasis and church architecture.
Duration: 60 minutes
The tour is included in the gallery ticket price.
The number of participants is limited.
