30.11.2023 Final conference of the West Courtyard restoration project
On 28 November, the Narva Museum hosted the final conference of the Läänehoovi restoration project, where the progress of the project, the history of the restoration of the fortress and new findings were discussed.
Maria Smorževskihh-Smirnova, Member of the Board of Narva Museum SA, and Jüri Moor, ER3 Project Manager, summarised the progress of the project and the main challenges.
Kalle Vellevoog, architect and member of the board of Arhitektuuribüroo JVR OÜ, explained the basic principles of the 2016 Narva Fortress reconstruction project and gave an overview of the work done and the next steps.
Madis Tuuder, Senior Inspector of Heritage of the City of Narva, gave an excursion into the history of the reconstruction of Narva Fortress after World War II.
Archaeologists Villu Kadakas and Ragnar Nurk spoke about the archaeological work carried out in the western courtyard of Narva Fortress and the Gloria bastion as part of the ER3 project, and the discoveries they made.
Aivo Raud, representative of Scandec Ehitus OÜ, the contractor for the reconstruction works in the West Courtyard, explained the works on the Kristervalli semi-bastion on the side of Narva Fortress.
