Currently, work is actively underway in the Western Courtyard of the Narva Museum to lay granite slabs. The million-euro project is nearing completion, with the results including:

  • Reconstruction of the fortress's Western Courtyard, where, among other improvements, transportation mobility will be enhanced, and conditions for people with special needs will be created;
  • Infrastructure for hosting large events will be established;
  • Conservation and restoration of the Western Courtyard's outer walls;
  • Reconstruction of the Kristervall bastion, which will host an exhibition dedicated to the theme of bastions;
  • The castle's Western Courtyard will be connected to the promenade and the Joaorg recreation area. To achieve this, it is planned to deepen the pit of the southern tower and, by pouring concrete, construct an open steel staircase there.

Currently, work is actively underway in the Western Courtyard of the Narva Museum to lay granite slabs. This step aims to create a more accessible space, convenient for the movement of people with special needs and parents with strollers. Additionally, the reconstructed area will include modernized communication systems, significantly enhancing the capacity to organize large-scale events.

As the final stages of reconstruction draw to a close, the museum team continues its professional development. Today, on the second day of the training course, media literacy experts Igor Rytov and Aivar Hundimägi are teaching staff effective methods of interacting with the press and the basics of creating press releases.

Despite the many events happening at the museum, much of our work, including scientific research and cultural heritage preservation, remains behind the scenes due to its specificity. One of the modern museum's key tasks is to establish transparent communication and strengthen ties with the public.

The project is financed through the Estonian External Border Program for the 2014-2020 period and was launched in September 2019. The project duration is about 50 months and will conclude by the end of 2023.

The project's total budget is 5,933,995.36 euros. The budget portion allocated to SA Narva Muuseum is 4,262,091.52 euros, of which 3,697,790.60 euros are provided as EU support, and 564,300.92 euros are the state contribution.

In addition to infrastructure development works, the project also includes scientific research that reveals the history of the Narva and Ivangorod fortresses. The results of these studies will be presented at the final conference scheduled for the end of this year.
