The Narva Museum is proud to announce the opening of the new exhibition "The Unforgotten City", dedicated to the historical center of Narva - a unique architectural heritage of the 17th century.

This exhibition offers visitors a journey into the past of Old Narva, which is known to most of us only through photographs and artists' sketches. The Old Town was lost over 70 years ago, and Narva itself has undergone colossal demographic changes, however, like a phantom, the image of the ancient city continues to live in the hearts and memory of generations.

The exhibition features more than a hundred exhibits from the museum's historical collection, including 17th-century architectural details, carved stones that adorned portals and facades of buildings, and forged elements such as weathervanes, hinges, and staircase grilles. Narva's sacred art is represented by rare wooden sculptures and preserved carved details from the Transfiguration Cathedral and St. John's Church.

In addition, visitors will be able to see important elements of the interior decor of houses in Old Narva, such as 17th-18th century stove tiles. No less than half of the exhibits are displayed for the first time, offering a unique opportunity to feel the monumentality of the architecture and the coziness of the narrow streets of the Old City, as well as to sense the tragedy of its loss.

This exhibition is a tribute to the Narva once called the "baroque pearl" in the Swedish crown, which was irretrievably lost during World War II. It invites reflection on the fragility and importance of preserving architectural heritage.

We invite everyone to visit the "The Unforgotten City" exhibition at the Narva Museum to recreate the image of a lost but not forgotten city and to appreciate the richness of its historical heritage.

The exhibition will be located on the first floor of Narva Castle and will be available for visitation with a museum ticket, starting from December 21.
