History in Stone: Narva’s Burials (RUS)
Event overview
The history of every era is, in one way or another, engraved in stone — in the solid mass of architectural monuments, in cobbled streets, and in moss-covered gravestones that carry the spirit of eternity. Perhaps it is precisely the silent yet eloquent space of cemeteries that invites us to reflect on history, on the passage of time, and on the fates of its witnesses — without filters, prejudice, or bias.
During this bus-and-walking tour of Narva's burial sites, participants are invited to connect with history by visiting both well-preserved and time-worn cemeteries from different historical periods.
The tour begins at Peetri Square, where a bus will be waiting. The program includes visits to:
Alexander Lutheran Cemetery and the Cemetery of the Resurrection Cathedral of Narva
Cemetery for officers of the 92nd Pechory Infantry Regiment of the Russian Army
Graves of soldiers from the Viljandi Regiment
Cemetery of soldiers of General Yudenich’s Northwestern Army
Narva Garrison Cemetery
Monument to Russian soldiers who died in the 1700 battle
Cemetery of the Peter Parish in Siivertsi
Monument in Riigiküla
German Military Cemetery
The tour concludes with return to Peetri Square.
