"Narva Gardens and Parks" Tour

How has Narva changed after its conquest by Peter the Great? How and why did it happen that the city lost its status as a trade centre and its unique opportunity to become the largest port in the Baltics? During the tour we will learn about the longest period of peace in the history of Narva and how the calmness and tranquillity of a provincial town became a salutary respite in a series of wars. The city expanded its possessions, numerous suburbs developed, residential houses, schools and churches were built. We will walk along the familiar streets past the preserved buildings of the 18th and 19th centuries, catch a glimpse of the events of the past and breathe in that special atmosphere of imperial Narva.

Meeting place: Pax Bastion, Dark Garden (map). The end of Victoria Bastion (map).
