Online Lecture "The Streets of Narva on City Maps from the 17th to the 21st Centuries"

At the lecture, we will discuss one of the most important aspects of our city's history - the history of Narva's streets. We will talk about the process of their formation in the city, the emergence of street names, how naming principles changed, and their renaming. We'll find out why in Narva, an ideal European city, it was easy to get lost, which street was renamed most often, and what Pushkin has to do with it. We'll refer to several city maps from different times to trace the changes in the layout of urban streets, and we'll delve into the history of one of the oldest streets - Pushkin Street. Towards the end of the presentation, we'll discuss the current situation regarding street renaming in the city.

Speaker: Svetlana Andreeva - Researcher and curator of the photo collection at the Narva Museum. Her research interests include the architecture and urban planning of Narva.
