Event overview
Living History of City N. 1929: Based on the "Old Narva Sheet" Newspaper with Yevgeny Zavadsky
At the end of March 1929, in Tallinn, in his cradle, baby Lennart Meri, the future president of Estonia, sleeps peacefully. Meanwhile, Narva finds itself in the epicenter of a terrible flood, the local cinema is showing "Stenka Razin," and on the eve of Holy Easter, Bolshevik underground activists are scattering red leaflets at Krenholm! The Estonian border guard sets out on the trail of the provocateurs...
This is how a real detective story begins, captured by the reporters of the famous "Old Narva Sheet" newspaper. The living history of Narva in 1929 will be recounted by ERR journalist and doctoral candidate at the University of Tartu, Yevgeny Zavadsky.
We invite you to an author's lecture by Yevgeny Zavadsky, which will take place on December 13th at 17:30, on the third floor in the Rondel Tower (former restaurant premises). This is a new and exciting format where we will try to transport you to the past and, through dispatches and newspaper notes, trace events with the narrator that are nearly a century old. The setting is Narva, the year 1929.
Participation cost: 5 euros (includes a welcome tea and coffee)
