Event overview

The Narva Museum’s exhibition “Let’s do tea!”, dedicated to the traditions and history of tea drinking, is open on the first floor of the Northern wing of Narva Castle.

Although tea is one of the most popular and customary drinks today, it has not always been the case. Tea was first brought to Estonia in the 17th century. At that time, tea was attributed medicinal properties, so it was often used as a medicine. This is also the reason why tea was sold in pharmacies for a long time. By the end of the 18th century, tea consumption had increased among the political and economic elite, and by the end of the 19th century, it was already consumed by all sections of society.

At the exhibition “Let’s do tea!” guests can dive into the history of the tea, get to know the traditions of oriental and European tea drinking, and get acquainted with the exhibits related to drinking tea from the collections of the Narva Museum.
