Event overview

This summer, the much‑loved adventure camp Skautlandia continues at Narva Castle. The spring session was very successful, and we once again invite children to discover, explore, move, learn practical skills, and try new things in a fun way.

The camp is designed for children aged 7–10 who enjoy playing, learning new things, spending time outdoors, socializing, and participating in engaging activities.

The program is conducted in Russian.

  • Session II: Nature, Discovery, and Creative Thinking

Dates: July 13–17 (repeat: August 3–7)

In this session, children will explore nature and learn how the world around them works. The program focuses on birds, animals, rivers, fish, trees, and plants, as well as how everything in nature is interconnected.

This session is especially suitable for children who enjoy asking questions, observing details, and using their imagination.

Children will:

  • learn about local birds, animals, and fish
  • understand where they live and why they are important
  • share stories about their pets or favorite animals
  • work with maps and imagine their own ideal world

They will also:

  • learn about ecosystems and why protecting nature matters
  • plant their own plant in a pot

The planted plants will remain in the Northern Courtyard, where children can observe their growth throughout the summer. This teaches care, responsibility, and patience.

This session is calm, educational, creative, and full of discoveries, helping children better appreciate the beauty and diversity of nature.

Monday — Mysteries of the Ancient World
On the first day, we will become archaeologists and paleontologists and travel hundreds and even thousands of years back in time. Participants will take part in real “excavations,” play attention and navigation games, and learn how scientists discover and study traces of the past.
Workshop of the day: a dinosaur fossil made from plaster and a rubber skeleton.

Tuesday — An Artistic Animal Hunt
We will set off on an unusual “artistic hunt” in the Art Gallery, searching for animals hidden in paintings. We will learn about the animals and birds that live in our forests, practice noticing details, and try to capture the character of a chosen animal in a creative project.
Workshop of the day: creating an animal mask.

Wednesday — Waterfalls, Kreenholm, and the Secrets of Textiles
We will learn about the famous Narva waterfalls that once roared around Kreenholm Island, and through a board game explore the history of the remarkable factory known worldwide. We will examine the vibrant patterns created at Kreenholm and discover how fabrics are made.
Workshop of the day: weaving your own bracelet.

Thursday — Green Narva and Linnaeus’ Garden
We will take a walk through Narva’s parks and visit the Dark Garden. We will learn to distinguish different types of trees, talk about the city’s natural environment, and finish with a picnic in Linnaeus’ Garden in the courtyard of Narva Castle. There, we will discover the benefits of medicinal plants and brew our own ароматный tea to taste.
Workshop of the day: planting your own plant.

Friday — In Search of Heraldic Creatures
On the final day of the camp, participants will take part in an exciting quest around Narva Castle: “In Search of Heraldic Creatures.” We will go on a true hunt for symbols, trying to find images of lions, dragons, and other mysterious beings on coats of arms, weather vanes, historic tiles, and decorative elements of the castle.

During the program, participants will learn what a bestiary is — a medieval book about animals — and why people in the past believed in dragons, unicorns, and other fantastic creatures. We will talk about which animals were seen as protectors and helpers of the castle, and what the images of animals on coats of arms symbolized.

Workshop of the day: creating a badge with a heraldic animal.
