15.11.2025 12:00 / The Art Gallery of the Narva Museum

Event overview

The Narva Museum invites you to visit a place hidden from the public eye — the museum’s storage rooms. These storerooms house items from the museum’s collection that are not currently on display.

The Narva Museum’s collection includes over 84,000 items, but less than 5% of them are currently exhibited. Together with the museum curators, you will visit the storerooms located in the Narva Museum Art Gallery, where historical, archaeological, ethnographic, and artistic collections are kept.

Among other things, you will see a Stone Age axe, a uranium glass mug, and a switchboard from the Kreenholm Manufacturing Company. You might also be intrigued by a painting by Jüri Arrak from our collection, charming ivory figurines, or a true lady’s delight — jewelry boxes from different eras used to store small treasures.

The tour in Russian will begin at 12:00.
The tour in Estonian will begin at 14:30.

Duration: 60 minutes
Ticket price: €15 / €10
Group size is limited.

On November 15, 16, and 17, around twenty-five museums across Estonia will open their doors as part of Curiosity Day, offering visitors a glimpse into museum storerooms, showcasing fascinating items from their collections, and sharing insights into the work museums do to preserve our shared cultural heritage.

Curiosity Day is an initiative of the President of the Republic of Estonia, first celebrated on November 17, 2022. Its goal is to highlight the value of curiosity as a foundation for lifelong learning and to encourage activities that inspire people of all ages to broaden their horizons and acquire new knowledge and skills.
