About the Camp

During the autumn school break, Narva Museum invites children on a magical journey through the dungeons and towers of Hermann Castle and into the most fantastic and mysterious artworks of the Art Gallery.

Each day includes:

  • Themed guided tours of exhibitions, where children will learn about fairytale heroes, dragons, and knightly adventures, and explore mythical figures in paintings.
  • Interactive games and workshops: solving riddles, creating family crests, and crafting “dragon eggs.”
  • Role-playing quests in medieval style: treasure hunts and the popular detective team game “Mafia,” where children practice observation, reasoning, and communication while playing as peaceful villagers and mysterious conspirators.

Daily Themes

  • Monday, Oct 20 – “Brave Knights”

Explore the legends of knights who once lived in Narva Castle. The day includes a fun orientation game, a friendly knight tournament, and puzzle-solving to uncover castle secrets. Children will craft wooden knight swords and play a medieval-themed “Mafia” game.

  • Tuesday, Oct 21 – “Magical Lights”

As autumn brings earlier darkness, we’ll learn to embrace it. In the Art Gallery, children will create silhouette drawings, play with shadows, and discuss fear and how to overcome it. After lunch, a flashlight quest in the castle’s dungeon awaits. The day ends with magical fluorescent paintings that glow in the dark.

  • Wednesday, Oct 22 – “Forest Secrets”

We’ll dive into the world of forests and rivers to learn about local wildlife. A team quiz will reveal surprising facts about real animals and compare them to fairytale creatures. Children will search for animals in exhibitions and enjoy board games and a forest-themed “Mafia” game.

  • Thursday, Oct 23 – “Dragon’s Trail”

Young paleontologists will excavate plaster blocks to uncover “bones” of ancient creatures. A team quiz on dinosaurs and legends by the fireplace will bring us closer to solving the mystery: did dragons really exist? The day ends with a “Mafia” game and a fun battle with a dragon piñata!

  • Friday, Oct 24 – “Captain Rode’s Treasures”

Inspired by the adventures of legendary pirate Captain Rode, children will embark on a castle quest. They’ll learn to use a compass, peer through a spyglass, and search for hidden treasures. Each child will also craft their own wooden ship. How many treasure chests will your team discover?
